SPORTS IN SOUTH KOREA
Sports culture in South Korea canvases a range of traditional sports in South Korea as well as those sports imported from the West, which are predominant. Some popular sports in South Korea include football, basketball, athletics, hiking, baseball, swimming, and boxing. Apart from these foreign sports, which have gained huge popularity in South Korea, there are various forms of folk dancing still practiced in Korea. Though these traditional dance forms do not qualify to be considered a sport, traditional mask dance drama is physically very demanding and tests the tenacity of the performer as much as that of a sports person.
One of the most popular traditional sports in South Korea is Kite flying. During the first few days of the Lunar New Year and Chuseok, people of South Korea fly kites and also have kite fighting, in which kite fighters try to snag each other's kites or cut other kites down.
